After 5 years of marriage, Vanness Wu (吳建豪) and Singaporean heiress Arissa Cheo (石貞善) have decided to file for divorce.
The Taiwanese actor-singer and Arissa have reportedly been undergoing marital woes for the past few years. Word on street has it that the duo had been living apart despite being legally married.
According to the Singapore law, couples who intend to divorce can only do so after 3 years of marriage. The couple must then provide a valid reason for their separation. If one party disagrees, an additional year can be added before a request for divorce can be filed. Shortly after their marriage, netizens noticed that they unfollowed each other on Instagram, while posting cryptic messages about a rocky relationship.
Arissa recently released a statement via her lawyer. It reads, “My client has always believed in marriage. However, because Vanness has sent her 2 divorce agreements successively, she no longer has a choice. She decided to end living in suffering and hurt. She has decided to divorce.”
