Wherever Andy Lau (劉德華) goes, there’s bound to be paparazzi around. This explains why the mega superstar has always been private about his family.
The “Heavenly King” himself has previously shared that he is determine to give his wife – former Malaysian beauty queen Carol Chu – and their 6-year-old daughter Hanna a normal life and away from the spotlight. Well, as normal as it gets when it comes to showbiz.
In order to keep the attention away from his loved ones, the 57-year-old singer would travel separately. He would then assign bodyguards, caretakers, and assistants to watch over Carol and Hanna. The entertainer would dress then discreetly by covering himself with cap and face mask.
This probably came as a surprise when Lau accompanied his daughter to her kindergarten graduation unnoticed. One reporter brought this up during an interview. “I knew everyone would ask. That’s why I coaxed you here so my daughter won’t be bothered. I was like Batman. No one recognised me at the school,” he replied.
Although paparazzi do occasionally snap pictures of Hanna, it’s still rare to see her in tabloids. When asked if he would share pictures of his family on social media, the performer said, “I won’t do that; I’m not used to it”, citing privacy reasons.
Currently, the seasoned artist is prepping for his 20-session “My Love” concert series in Hong Kong.
