Just when you think the LRT issues can’t get any worse, it does. Following the news of the LRT Ampang Line disruptions until September, it was recently reported that LRT service operations at six stations on the Ampang/Sri Petaling Line involving Bandaraya, Sultan Ismail, PWTC, Titiwangsa, Sentul, and Sentul Timur will be suspended from 2nd April.

In an official statement released by Rapid Rail, the LRT trains no longer fit the criteria in order to remain operational and have been taken out for safety purposes. “This is following the structural and runway damage near the Bandaraya LRT station, which has resulted in trains not being able to return to the Ampang LRT Depot to undergo maintenance works since 27th January,” they said.

Unfortunately, it was not mentioned in the statement exactly how long the suspension will take place. However, while this may be bad news to many, Rapid Rail has provided some solutions for affected passengers to continue to commute. Here are 2 travel options you can consider:

1. RapidKL Buses

It was said that Rapid Rail will provide free LRT 13 and LRT 14 Express Bus services starting this Sunday in addition to the existing LRT 11 Bus service. A total of 40 buses will be deployed with a frequency of between 10-15 minutes during peak hours depending on the current traffic conditions.

2. Alternative LRT Routes

According to the official statement, passengers who want to go to Hang Tuah can take the Monorail Line via Titiwangsa Station. While those who want to go to Chan Sow Lin can take the Putrajaya MRT Line via Titiwangsa Station.

Apart from these two solutions, LRT passengers are also encouraged to use the PULSE application to plan their journey and follow Rapid KL’s social media pages to get the latest information. Rapid Rail ended the statement with, “We apologise for any inconvenience caused. We thank and appreciate the passengers’ patience.”

At the time of writing, there is still no update on when these 6 stations will resume operation. For more information on alternative routes and transport, you may visit the RapidRail website or follow their socials to get the details.
