Things are getting serious for pop star Katy Perry and former Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau. The pair recently swapped their casual date nights for a meeting with another politician.
On 4th December 2025 (Thursday), former Prime Minister of Japan Fumio Kishida shared a photo on social media of himself and his wife with Justin and Katy. In the post, the politician said that Justin visited Japan with his partner, referring to Katy, and met with him and his wife for lunch. The post then continues with Fumio Kishida commenting on the times he worked with Justin when they were both in office.

In the photo shared, the four posed together in front of a Christmas tree. For the lunch meeting, Katy wore a mini skirt and jacket ensemble, paired with a turtleneck and black tights, while Justin sported a dark grey suit. For those wondering, the “Woman’s World” singer performed in Tokyo earlier this week as part of her “The Lifetimes” world tour, which explained why she was in Japan.
Justin would share a response to Kishida’s post to thank him and his wife for the hospitality, adding, “Katy and I were so glad to have the chance to sit down with you and Yuko.“ Many netizens have reacted to the interaction, with many dubbing it a “hard launch” from the politician-popstar couple. Some also noted that Katy joining Justin in one of his diplomatic meetings proves that the pair are serious about their relationship.

Katy and Justin’s romance began earlier this year, after the two were spotted having dinner together while the singer was touring in Montreal. Since then, the couple have been on several public dates, including in Paris on Katy’s birthday. Earlier this June, Katy split from actor Orlando Bloom after 9 years together. Meanwhile, Justin and ex-wife Sophie Grégoire separated in 2023 after 18 years of marriage.
Despite the comments about their romance, Katy and Justin seem to be going steady. What are your thoughts on this?
