The verdict is still up in the air on whether Malaysian singer Namewee (黄明志) had any connections to the death of Taiwanese influencer Iris Hsieh (谢侑芯). While the investigation is ongoing, the media personality released a new song with lyrics about the current situation.
In the early hours of 25th November 2025 (Tuesday), Namewee released a new song on his social media pages. The Mandarin-language song, titled “Misread Me”, featured lyrics that seemingly reflect the singer’s feelings and thoughts amid the ongoing Iris Hsieh murder investigation. Namewee also shared the translation for the lyrics in English and Malay.

In a separate comment, Namewee hints that the song is a commentary on recent news reports and reactions to his connection to the Iris Hsieh case. He said, “Although the case is still under investigation and the report hasn’t come out yet, the Chinese-language media in Malaysia and netizens have already sentenced me to death! This song is for you!”
Meanwhile, investigations into Iris Hsieh’s passing continue, but with no recent updates to the case. Namewee’s police bail will expire tomorrow, but if authorities find no new evidence requiring immediate arrest, there is a high chance that the public figure will remain on bail. However, he is subject to being summoned for investigations at any time.

Besides his alleged involvement in Iris Hsieh’s case, Namewee is also facing charges for drug possession and drug use after authorities found blue pills in his possession during a raid. The singer also tested positive for a cocktail of drugs. He will appear in court on 18th December for a rehearing of the case.
Netizens have since reacted to Namewee’s new song, sharing mixed feelings. What are your thoughts on the track? Listen to it below:
