Malaysia has its fair share of internet celebrities, and unfortunately, we also have some nasty ones. One of them, a 19-year-old influencer was recently exposed as a sexual predator. According to a source, he has raped, sexually assaulted and harassed over a hundred women.
Last night (10th September), a post detailing the internet celebrity’s indecent activities was uploaded on social media. It included screenshots of the celeb’s conversations with his victims. China Press managed to reach out to a few of his victims and obtained a full coverage of their stories. They also tried contacting the influencer himself, however he proved to be unreachable.
One of the victims explained that she had met the internet celebrity on a dating platform last year (2020). After getting to know each other for a week, he asked to meet her. She denied him at first, citing that the pandemic was serious and her mother wouldn’t allow her to leave the house. However, he pleaded with her and said he had asked for leave from his company to meet her. The victim finally changed her mind and agreed to meet, but only if the meeting was to take place outside her house.
“Last November, he drove to my apartment at about 5pm. I told my family a friend was looking for me and went downstairs (to meet him),” she recalled. “As his car was blocking traffic, he told me to get into the car first.” The victim said the 19-year-old tricked her into the car, lied about wanting to take her home and finally drove her to a remote area where he sexually assaulted her. The victim struggled and begged, but was unable to resist as he was much stronger than her.
“After the incident, he comforted me and said he was responsible for me. At that time, I was so scared, I was in a state of ignorance,” she said. “I also forgot how he sent me home. I only know it was dark when I got home.” She questioned the influencer later by messaging him. However, he banned her immediately after sending a few random sentences. He also deleted their chat content.
The 19-year-old continued searching for new victims and wasn’t careful about who he added. Apparently, he forgot the victim’s identity and contacted her again via the dating platform in August 2021. “When he approached me again, I tried to talk to him. I asked him to admit he had raped me,” the victim stated. “At that time, he had already agreed in the message and pointed out that he would be responsible for me. Then he blocked me.”
The victim shared that she’s still thinking about reporting the matter to the police. If she does report it, she hopes he will face legal sanctions for raping her, and avoid other women from becoming victims too. Another victim reported the internet celebrity had also tried the same tactic on her. However, she managed to open the car door and stated loudly that many people were watching. He gave up and asked her to leave. Oddly enough, the 19-year-old later asked her to reimburse his fuel cost for the drive from KL to Klang via WeChat.
As for the person who exposed the celebrity, he explained he had taken action after hearing the stories from a few victims. He revealed the influencer’s actions online and later received messages from almost a hundred women. They all stated that they or people around them had received invitations from the 19-year-old.
“Some were raped like (the first victim). Some were assaulted when they went out to eat with the internet celebrity,” he explained. There were also a few who were taken to hotels, but thankfully managed to escape from the room at the last second. “Even my girlfriend had received an invitation from the celebrity,” he said. “A female friend of mine was shocked when she saw the post, saying her sister had been (involved with the guy on the Internet) the day before.”
Prior to being exposed, the influencer had about a thousand followers on Instagram and Douyin. He often uploaded videos which covered popular songs. He was also found to be engaged in the foreign exchange market and often showed off his wealth.
After the news about him broke, he has apparently gone underground. Netizens discovered he had renamed his accounts and set them to private. There is suspicion that he started feeling either guilty or scared.
We hope this ‘celebrity’ gets his just desserts. After all, if it takes the exposure of a hundred victims for him to start feeling guilty, there’s no guarantee he will change his ways.
Here’s Part 2 of the story.
