Nothing compares to a decent cup of coffee. It’s warm, steamy and inviting, and it’ll get you going in the mornings. While some of us enjoy coffee early in the day, before work, others choose to imbibe during the weekends with friends, while gossiping. If you’re one of the latter and looking to try out new coffee shops, here are 5 homegrown coffee shops in the Klang Valley to try.

One of the Klang Valley’s most popular coffee cafes, Kopi Dua Darjat serves the most authentic style of coffee – with a twist. If you’re the type to go through cup upon cup of strong coffee of different tastes, Kopi Dua Darjat has the menu for you. The cafe makes its coffee with locally-sourced ingredients – and you can tell from the taste. Many of its patrons say the cafe reminds them of home – and what a sweet home it is.

For our bougie peeps, Peep Coffee is just for you. This new Bangsar establishment is your one-stop shop for the best brewed coffee, made with a house mix or single origin Ethiopian beans. You’ll enjoy a coffee taste unlike any other. The bitterness of the coffees won’t divert you from trying Peep Coffee’s wide array of delicious coffee selections.

Not a fan of coffee? Not a problem, because here’s a matcha recommendation that you don’t want to miss out on. Hejau was established by Jane Chuck and a few of her pals to serve matcha drinks with a twist. It’s not your typical matcha spot, as it boasts a wide variety of creative ingredients that make each matcha drink unique. From matcha lemonade to matcha tebu, just one sip of Hejau will have you wanting more.

Address: Arcoris Plaza, Mont Kiara and The Gasket Alley

A charming cafe located just outside Bangsar Shopping Center, Burrow serves not only exquisite coffee, but pastries too. It’s cosy and quaint – the ideal place to catch up with your besties over a cup of hot brewed coffee. As the phrase goes, “less is more,” which is why Burrow only serves two types of coffee: white and black. There is no need for you to go through the trouble of selecting from the menu.

Address: LOT GK12, Ground Floor, Bangsar Shopping Centre

This is one of those cafes that people would often say “if you know, you know” about. Located in Melawati, Monet has an incredible blend of coffee roasts that is absolutely to die for. It’s also a lovely setting for a Sunday breakfast with friends. Once you enter the cafe, the aroma of freshly-brewed coffee will entice you to remain a little longer. Plus, if you pair your coffee with one of the cafe’s delectable treats, you’ll spend your day in good company.
