The Thai entertainment industry is mourning the loss of a young star who died from a tragic incident. 20-year-old singer Ping Chayada Prao-hom (ผิง ชญาดา) passed away on 8th December 2024 (Sunday) after succumbing to her injuries sustained from getting massages from a parlour in Udon Thani.
According to Thai news outlets, the singer first visited the massage parlour in early October after complaining of a backache and shoulder ache. It’s believed that Ping felt fine after the visit but started to feel a pain in the back of her head two days later. Unfortunately, the pain worsened, and the singer began experiencing numbness in her arm.

Ping would revisit the massage parlour for another session with the same masseuse. However, the singer ended up in more pain and stiffness until she couldn’t even turn over in bed. The star marked off the pain as an after-effect of the massage and revisited the parlour for a third time, receiving treatment from a different masseuse. Sadly, the public figure’s third visit was no better, and she began to experience swelling and bruising all over her body.
It wasn’t until consulting several different doctors that Ping discovered that her pain was due to a shifted vertebrae. She was later admitted to a hospital in early November and placed in intensive care. The young star was also due to receive treatment for a dislocated cervical spine and spinal cord inflammation. Unfortunately, her condition deteriorated significantly, and she fell into a coma for ten days. Sadly, Ping was pronounced dead on 8th December.

Ping’s mother, Chanthakan Prao-hom, said she is considering legal action against the massage parlour for her daughter’s death. In the meantime, authorities are investigating the parlour and masseuses to see if they were licensed to provide treatment. It’s argued that if the massage didn’t align with the standard practice of Thai traditional massage, it could explain why the singer had sustained her injuries.
Ping had only recently debuted under a small music label in Thailand called Guitar Records. However, her mother said the young star had always loved singing and had dreamed of hitting it big. We extend our condolences to Ping’s family and loved ones, and may they find solace in this difficult time.
