It’s been a long day without any news of global sensation girl group BLACKPINK’s comeback, and fans are growing restless. The group’s last comeback was with their stellar album, “Born Pink”, almost three years ago, so it’s no wonder any new announcement from YG Entertainment has fans in a frenzy.
Yesterday (25th May 2025), in a formal announcement video, Executive Producer of YG Entertainment Yang Hyunsuk (양현석), touched on BLACKPINK’s comeback plan, mentioning that their group activities will resume this year. Earlier this year, BLACKPINK announced that they would be reuniting once again on the world stage for their long-awaited “Deadline” World Tour, opening their first show at Goyang Stadium in Seoul on 5th July 2025.

Unfortunately, the new announcement video gave nothing to fill the void for fans, as YG announces that the release of their new song is yet to be confirmed. “Although we don’t have a confirmed date yet, news about BLACKPINK’s new song will be announced soon”, Yang Hyun-suk stated. Unsurprisingly, the lack of plans for the quartet prompted anger amongst fans.
Most were unsatisfied that there is just less than two months until the tour, but BLACKPINK has still no album in sight. Twitter user @/wynechithlaing highlighted, “It’s been 3 years since BLACKPINK’s last comeback, but the date is still unknown? And it’s a single, not an album? We need a pre-release single and a full album with promotion before their world tour”.

Other fans also highlighted the scarcity of songs over the years, with Twitter user @/bluebowlsof_898 commenting, “One new song for a very expensive ticket and then the same 32 songs of which 20 will be performed for the 926726th time. Are you all not ashamed?”.
This brings discourse over YG Entertainment’s position with BLACKPINK’s group activities amid their solo activities. Do you think we’ll be able to see a full album before their comeback tour?
