After teasing fans with behind-the-scenes looks, BLACKPINK (블랙핑크) member Jennie (제니) finally took the stage with her first solo Coachella performance! The idol stunned with her almost one-hour set, even bringing out collaborator Kali Uchis for one of her songs.
The 13th April 2025 (Sunday) performance marked Jennie’s solo Coachella debut since debuting as a solo artist in 2018. She was also one of the few K-pop idols performing at the festival’s first weekend, with another being fellow BLACKPINK member Lisa (리사). There was a lot of anticipation for her performance, with fans trending “#JENCHELLA (Jennie + Coachella)” on social media before her appearance.

Upon the start of her performance, the crowd burst into loud cheers. Jennie took the stage, sporting a red leather two-piece, cowboy hat, and a pair of sunglasses. Her set list included hits from her “Ruby” album, including “Mantra”, “F.T.S”, “Like Jennie”, and “Handle Bars”. The 29-year-old also surprised fans when she brought out American singer Kali Uchis for her performance of “Damn Right”.
Fans at the music festival and online had overwhelmingly positive reactions to the set, with many praising the idol’s live vocals. As Jennie performed the 13-track set without breaks, many were stunned by her energy. Some also noted her stage presence, saying she could capture the crowd’s attention as a solo performer. Many also said they’re looking forward to her Coachella Weekend 2 performance next Sunday (20th April 2025).

It’s also worth noting that Jennie was recently in hot water after netizens pointed out her unenthusiastic performances during BLACKPINK’s last tour. Videos of the idol appearing unenergetic on stage went viral, sparking criticism of her lack of professionalism. However, with her recent Coachella performance, many fans believed she had redeemed herself and deserved to have her hard work acknowledged.
Judging from the cheers, there’s no doubt the crowd loved every moment of the set. As this is just the first half of Jennie’s solo Coachella journey, fans can look forward to more of the star when she takes the stage next week.
