GOT7’s Mark Tuan (段宜恩/마크투안) has had an exciting 2024. The idol visited Malaysia on multiple occasions, for concerts to meet-and-greet events, and he is also one of the many idols now acquainted with a member of the Selangor Royal Family. On his latest visit, not only did he try some local delicacies, but the singer was also given the chance to wear traditional outfits and play traditional games.
In a recent video posted by GO XUAN, Mark Tuan was given a special gift by hosts Muna Bella and Kryston: a Baju Melayu. The GOT7 member wore the lighter-coloured outfit of the two choices, along with a samping to complete the look. He described the traditional wear as very comfortable.

Next, the two hosts invited the 31-year-old to play a game of batu seremban, the Malaysian equivalent of knucklebones or scatter jacks. As with many of its worldwide variants, the player must throw one batu seremban in the air, pick up as many “batu” as they can, and catch the tossed one back in their hand. The idol successfully caught all of the scattered items on his first try.
Back in his normal clothes, Kryston and Muna introduced Mark to some local delicacies during lunchtime at Cili Kampung. Some of the dishes the “Fallin'” artist tried included sotong bakar, ayam rendang, and sotong masak cili padi. In true Malay style, the GOT7 member chose to eat his meals with his fingers. The trio ended their lunch with desserts and durian. So what did Mark think about our Malaysian cuisines? “I’d give it a 10/10 [rating],” he said in the video.

After the video was posted, local fans were overjoyed to see the idol wearing a baju melayu, playing traditional games, and trying local dishes. Many took to Twitter to express their excitement at seeing Mark Tuan in the traditional garment, commenting on how handsome he looked in it. Of course, he wasn’t the first K-pop artist to try on a baju melayu.
Previously, members of ATEEZ surprised fans by wearing the outfits during their fan sign event in Korea. Prior to that, several K-pop idols had donned Malaysian traditional wear during their visits to our country. We’re looking forward to seeing who will be the next idol to rock our baju melayu or baju kurung.
