With everything we touch costing a fortune these days, we all could sure use a huge sum of money – something we hope for when we buy a lottery ticket. Similar to the catering duo who bet on numbers and won RM20.4 million, four Malaysians became instant millionaires in jackpot winnings over the weekend.

Last weekend, four lucky individuals from Penang, Johor, Melaka, and Selangor landed a combined RM28.6 million in jackpot winnings with the Toto 4D Jackpot 1 and Power Toto 6/55. The winners from Penang, Johor, and Melaka shared a sum of RM23.9 million on the Toto 4D Jackpot 1 prize, while the winner from Selangor scored over RM4 million.

The individual from Penang, a 65-year-old woman, made the most out of her uncle’s funeral a few months ago. She betted on numbers that she calculated and got the pair of winning numbers, 5088 and 2323, which she believed were part of a “farewell gift” from her uncle.

“I was the only person who still bet on the numbers consistently even after my late uncle passed several months ago. I believe it’s a farewell gift from my beloved uncle,” she said. The combination of numbers from the columbarium, hearse and paper house for the deceased was why the woman bought a System 7 ticket, through which she won RM11,035,121.25. She added that she doesn’t have any plans for her latest winnings, but plans to park the money into a fixed deposit for the time being.

Meanwhile, the winner from Johor betted on numbers 1777 and 2323, a combination of his house number and favourite number. The 66-year-old retiree claimed he betted regularly and would spend about RM50 per draw on his favourite numbers. He also stated that he has decided to share his joy by giving out RM1 million to each of his children and enjoying the rest of the wealth with his wife.

The 49-year-old champion from Selangor took home RM4,688,691.00 from the Power Toto 6/55 Jackpot by betting on a Lucky Pick with the set of numbers 4, 5, 13, 26, and 35. The finance manager, who acquired a betting habit during the pandemic, claims he will use his winnings to clear his debts and save up for his son’s future.

As for the Melaka winner, who played an i-System ticket – they won a whopping RM1,839,186.
