The Singapore Grand Prix that took place over the weekend saw many famous faces in attendance, including Simu Liu and Ryan Tedder. Guess what y’all? Mercedes drivers Lewis Hamilton and George Russell decided to make a pit stop in Malaysia after the race.
The two F1 drivers were recently in Kuala Lumpur for a private event hosted by Petronas to celebrate the company’s 50th anniversary. Mercedes’ official social media shared several photos from the gathering, which included Petronas staff members. According to videos, Lewis and George also took part in a sharing session where they answered questions from the audience members.
However, this visit is bittersweet for Lewis’ fans in Malaysia since it may be his last one as he will soon join the Ferrari team. This move means he’ll no longer drive for Mercedes and thus no longer be in partnership with Petronas. Perhaps that’s why the public figure was particularly busy during this short trip, as he also did a solo meet-and-greet session with his fans.
One fan named Nadia shared her interaction with the 39-year-old when she presented him with a bag of gifts. The fan also shared Lewis’ funny reaction when he noticed her custom phone case – his car number, 44, in Ferrari’s signature red colour. He also did a Q&A session and shared his upcoming projects, including the highly anticipated “F1” film.
Lewis also appeared on the local radio station, Hitz, earlier this morning (25th September 2024, Wednesday). According to the radio station’s social media, he filmed some content with the radio DJs. On the other hand, George is likely already on his way home but did share a photo of the Petronas Twin Tower on his Instagram Stories before he left, captioning the image with “What a view”.
We hope George had a great stay despite the short duration. We also hope Lewis enjoys the rest of his trip – and while it’s sad to hear this might be his last visit to Malaysia as a Mercedes driver, we know he’s always welcome to return.
