Amidst all the Hong Kong celebs coming to Malaysia for entertainment projects, television host Bob Lam (林盛斌) and actor Oscar Leung (梁竞徽) were in town for a very different purpose. The two stars are now officially business owners in Malaysia, tackling the country’s food and beverage industry!
Bob and Oscar recently attended the grand opening of a new hotpot restaurant in Kuala Lumpur. The restaurant, The Story of Wharf Hotpot (碼頭故事), is located at Lot 10 Shopping Centre in Bukit Bintang and specialises in Sichuan-style hotpot. The two celebrities are shareholders in the business, which opened its first store in Hong Kong in 2013. Hong Kong actors Joel Chan (陈山聪), Penny Chan (陈国峰) and Philip Keung (姜皓文) were also at the ceremony to support their friends.

Bob and Oscar also shared their thoughts about opening a business in Malaysia during the grand opening. Bob said he’s confident in the restaurant’s success, adding that the restaurant aims to open as many as 40 branches throughout Malaysia. He also jokingly said that the restaurant will be where you can easily meet Hong Kong artists in Malaysia. The 45-year-old also joked that customers who say they’re fans of him will get free refills of iced water.
Oscar also shared his feelings about the new restaurant, saying he was nervous since it was his first time operating a business in Malaysia. He also said that he and the Hong Kong-based company decided to expand their business to Malaysia because he has always liked the country. He added that Malaysia feels almost like a second home to him and many Hong Kong artists.

In true Malaysian style, the two business owners yelled, “Heng ah! Ong ah! Huat ah!”, during the opening ceremony to bless their new restaurant. We extend our congratulations to Bob and Oscar and their new business. The Story of Wharf is now open at R1, Annexe Block at Lot 10 Shopping Centre.
