The day has finally arrived! Earlier this morning (Wednesday, 12th June), the oldest member of BTS (방탄소년단), Jin (진) completed his mandatory military service and has officially been discharged after 18 months. The idol was seen bidding his farewell to his fellow comrades before meeting up with his group members shortly after.
As reported yesterday, although a few of the members are still in the middle of military service, BTS will reunite for a private event to celebrate the special occasion as well as the 11th anniversary of their debut. Korean media managed to catch the heartwarming reunion between the members outside of the military base and here’s what went down:

As seen in the photos and videos posted, Jungkook (정국), RM (아르엠), Jimin (지민), V (뷔) and J-Hope (제이홉) were all present to greet Jin when he exited the military base. Everyone excitedly embraced the now-discharged idol and gifted him flowers to celebrate his completion. Unfortunately, SUGA (슈가) was nowhere to be seen but it was believed that he would catch up with the rest at the HYBE building later.
What people probably didn’t expect was the group leader, RM playing their 2020 hit “Dynamite” on the saxophone when greeting the oldest member. Although it will be a while before we get an official BTS comeback, fans took to Twitter to express how overwhelmed they were after seeing their favourite idol group reuniting for this occasion.
Some were amused by RM’s surprise saxophone performance when greeting Jin while others joked about SUGA’s commitment to not making a public appearance until he’s discharged from his military service in 2025. A few took it upon themselves to photoshop the missing member in the happy reunion photos.
Although fans weren’t able to witness BTS welcoming Jin home in person, many of them will soon meet the “Astronaut” singer themselves during the annual BTS FESTA event happening tomorrow (Thursday, 13th June) where they’ll also receive a hug from him.
