It’s been a while since we heard from Hong Kong media personality Amy Sit Yeng Yi (薛影仪), a.k.a Ah Yi (阿仪). While the public figure is no longer with Asia Television Digital Media Limited or Asia Momentum Media, Ah Yi is still active in the entertainment industry. However, a recent photo sparked the question of her future.
The 40-year-old recently posted a photo on Instagram that shows her wearing a wedding dress and veil, holding a bouquet of roses while staring at a lit neon signage. She appeared to be in a venue with eccentric decor like a 3D wall and skeleton-themed tiles. The ambiguous caption did little to clarify the photo as it wrote, “1st May 2024. I have an important secret to announce. Waiting (room) will open at 5 o’clock. Everyone will know then.”
The suspicious post garnered tons of attention, mostly from fans who wondered if it was a hint about a marriage announcement. Many expressed their curiosity, saying they look forward to what the public figure has to share. The post also led to several congratulatory comments that wished Ah Yi tons of happiness with her partner if she indeed was getting married. Unfortunately for the expecting fans, it seemed the photo might not be anything serious but merely to promote a business.
As it turns out, the Instagram post was a collaborative post with a traditional Chinese medicine clinic in Hong Kong. In addition to the photo, the two parties jointly posted a video that appeared to be a promotional clip for the TCM clinic. In the video, Ah Yi did make a brief appearance but didn’t appear to be wearing the previously shown wedding dress.
While it wasn’t a direct explanation, the video did dismiss the marriage rumours. However, it’s unconfirmed whether Ah Yi will still announce something on 1st May – so it looks like we’ll have to wait till then to find out.
