You’d think that those who used to work in retail or food service would be humble as they understand the hardships these workers have to go through. Unfortunately for this ex-McDonald’s employee, many think her behaviour shows the complete opposite.

Earlier this week, a man posted a (now-deleted) video on his TikTok channel of when he and (possibly) his girlfriend ordered food at an unspecified McDonald’s drive-thru. The video was captioned, “POV: You’re an ex-McD staff”. The woman in the video, whose face was not shown, was a former employee of the fast food chain and the way she ordered her meal got netizens heated up.

In the viral post, the woman can be heard ordering her meal with very specific instructions such as the ingredients used must be fresh, the fries must be hot from the fryer with a certain amount of salt added to them and the patties must be cut. The woman’s requests were as though she wanted to show off how she knew how the food was prepared since she used to work in the business.

At one point, she and the man recording the video insisted that they want their porridge straight out of the pot and into the packaging, saying that they don’t mind waiting. After ordering their meal, the man asked why she made so many requests to which she justified her reasons by saying, “When you’re sick, you have to be a bit demanding. I make these requests ’cause I’ll be the one eating the food.”

It was then revealed that the man, who was driving the car, was also a former McDonald’s employee as she asked him questions about his time working in the restaurant and how the food was usually prepared. After the video went viral, netizens were angered by the ex-staff’s attitude and for making the workers’ jobs difficult with her demands.

As seen in the screenshots above, many criticised the woman in the video, saying she should’ve been more considerate as she should know how challenging working in the fast food industry is. Others called her out for ordering food from a boycotted brand.

At the time of writing, there has been no update on whether or not the two ex-McD staff have apologised for the outrage the video has caused. Watch the viral post below:
