Podcaster group, Bros Gang TV (BGTV) have had numerous interviews with celebrities and ordinary people that went viral on social media. One of their biggest interviews was when actress Puteri Balqis opened up about her experience of growing up with an abusive father.
While that interview received mainly positive reactions and support from fans, their latest one, however, received the exact opposite. Netizens called out the podcasters for even thinking of inviting the controversial “Hot Daddy” as a guest on their show. Here’s how they responded to the backlash:
For context, the story of Hasli Ikhwan Arif Zul Hasli, a.k.a “Hot Daddy” blew up late last month, especially after the gigolo and his two girlfriends pleaded not guilty to charges of advertising sex services and pornography on social media in Kuala Lumpur High, Sessions and Magistrate Court. Since then, the adult content creator has been getting all kinds of attention from netizens.
Over the weekend, BGTV announced on Instagram that they invited the sex worker to appear as a guest on an upcoming episode of their podcast. The photos they posted showed the hosts and “Hot Daddy” talking, laughing and even playing video games. As expected, the post was not well received by netizens who all called out the public figures for inviting such a controversial figure on their show.
Yesterday (Sunday, 4th February), BGTV posted a statement regarding the backlash they’ve been receiving after posting the photos. In their statement, the content creators said, “BGTV does not support any party that does immoral things. In fact, we fight to prevent those things from happening. A great debate ensued between us and the guest. BGTV is a reality showcase platform so all the videos released are based on the reality of life.”
Despite the explanation, netizens were still not keen on the idea of giving a platform to a controversial figure, as seen in the comments above. Some even suspected that this was all part of a marketing strategy to attract more audience to tune in to the upcoming episode.
Meanwhile, surprisingly, “Hot Daddy” himself received some positive comments online. The adult content creator recently did a few livestreams on TikTok where many of his fans, most likely his Telegram channel subscribers, showed support for him for his ongoing court case. Twitter user @/jllmisai, who posted screenshots of one of the livestreams, commented that he was disturbed that there were women out there who hailed the sex worker as a hero.
Many seemed to agree with his opinion saying that those who showed support for the gigolo should be ashamed of themselves. Some expressed their disgust that “Hot Daddy” is currently roaming free while the women who appeared in his videos have all been arrested.
What are your thoughts about the situation?
