Life is a journey and we all have different paths. For Taiwanese actress Ching Mai (林玉紫), her life’s journey turned out to be quite the rollercoaster!
The 53-year-old actress once made a name for herself when she starred in several Hong Kong Category III (adult-rated) films. However, shortly after Ching Mai’s stint with spicy movies, she retreated from the big screen. So, where is she now?
Ching Mai left Taiwan for Hong Kong in the 1990s to further her career as an actress. At the time, she mostly filmed adult-rated films, including “The Underground Banker (香港奇案之吸血貴利王)”, which later turned out to be one of her best performances. She was praised for the erotic scene she had with fellow actor Karel Wong (黃子揚), which caught many off-guard for how bold it was.
However, after her time filming such films, she eventually returned to her hometown to continue working on her career there. Ching Mai started focusing on acting in more ethical dramas in Taiwan and reportedly is still working behind-the-scenes of drama to this day. But, as it turned out, her career did not stop her love life.
In 2018, the actress announced her marriage to someone outside the industry, who was 15 years older than her. At the time, she believed that her older partner would provide her stability. Unfortunately, things fell apart a year later. The couple quarreled frequently, even disagreeing over their finances. It eventually led to the couple divorcing in 2022, leaving Ching Mai with her daughter.
Well, based on photos from her socials, Ching Mai looks to be doing very well since her divorce! Life may not have been the kindest to her, yet her perseverance has apparently pulled her through. We wish Ching Mai and her daughter well and hope they will continue living a happy, peaceful life.
