Some mistakes can land you in deep trouble – but some can be pretty funny. However, in this case, the mistake got netizens questioning: who let this slide?
Local coffee chain ZUS Coffee recently took to social media to post a new promotion for their Buttercrème Latte. Along with the poster for the promotion, the coffee chain also posted captions detailing the terms and conditions. In keeping with the “crème” theme, ZUS Coffee decided to use the tagline “Get Crème-d Together” for the poster and the phrase “Hurry, it’s crème time!” in the captions.
While it seemed like an innocent tagline, many netizens have pointed out that the word has another not-so-innocent connotation. According to Internet slang, the word ‘crème’ or ‘cream’ can mean ejaculate or ejaculation and has a somewhat homoerotic meaning. Of course, that wasn’t what ZUS Coffee meant when they used the word, but that’s not going to stop the knowing giggles coming from netizens.
Many were amused by the choice of words, saying that the person who came up with the tagline is either really innocent or laughing just as hard as they are. Some were just in disbelief that the coffee chain would use the phrase to promote their Buttercrème Latte, while others were just having fun and joking about the advert.
There’s currently no update if ZUS Coffee have been made aware of the situation but if they didn’t know the other meaning of the word before, now they do – and hopefully, it’ll save them from making another mistake.
