After a month of hard work and drama, the results for the Miss Hong Kong 2023 (香港小姐競選) beauty pageant have been released! While the results were surprising to some, none were more surprised than the girls who won the competition themselves.
On Sunday (27th August), Miss Hong Kong 2023 held their finals, with all 17 finalists raring to go. To the audience’s delight, Hilary Chong (庄子璇) took first place with Lynn Wang (王怡然) nabbing second and Lovelle Wang (王敏慈) coming in third!

It hasn’t been an easy season for Miss Hong Kong 2023 as there were several dropouts, and drama for the girls, such as Zora Chen (陈怡名) being put on blast for her “rude” remarks, Michelle Poa (潘明璇) being called out by her boyfriend for lying and plastic surgery, and Cindy Chan (陈晓彤) allegedly sabotaging Hilary Chong.
Still, it seems all the drama did not affect the girls as each of them performed their best during the finals. Unfortunately, only one could be crowned Miss Hong Kong and this year, Hilary Chong took the crown, much to her surprise. As she told 香港01 (Hong Kong 01) later, she hadn’t been certain about her chances for winning.
“I had hoped, but didn’t expect to be able to win the championship,” she admitted. “I feel happy because the audience’s response was good.” Hilary added that she’d missed a few steps in her dance performance, but was confident in her eloquence. As for the negative news, Hilary claims she took it as a lesson to steel her heart. For now, she’s expressed interest in filming a drama, adding she hopes to work together with actor Moses Chan (陳豪).

As for Lynn Wang who’d been a fan-favourite to win, she was perfectly fine placing second. “I’m pretty satisfied with my performance,” she told Hong Kong 01 later. “This is the result of my hard work.” She added that she hadn’t felt disappointed with her placing as she didn’t believe she would have gotten 1st place. Notably enough, Lynn had also won Miss Photogenic.
When asked about her future plans, Lynn made it clear she would be focusing on her financial situation. “(I’ll) be a student first, because studies are important,” the 21-year-old shared. But, she claimed she would also be seizing the opportunity to buy property, hoping it will be an asset.
In the meantime, she’s content to work behind the scenes, presumably in dramas, but ruefully added, “Now (I’ll) need to learn some Cantonese first.” Funnily enough, the first thing Lynn wanted to do after the competition was eat some hot pot. And she wasn’t the only one.

Second runner up Lovelle Wang had been delighted after the competition, but claims it wasn’t all to do with her win in the pageant. As it turns out, she was more interested in dinner! “I’m so happy, I can go out and eat some food later,” she reportedly said, speaking to Hong Kong 01. “I think I performed well because I didn’t make mistakes and I could answer all the questions.”
Lovelle, like Lynn, was pleased with her placing. “I’m happy because I have an award. I have learned a lot and made a lot of friends,” she shared. The 21-year-old claims the most important thing she’d gained from the pageant was self-confidence. “Because I was not very confident when I ran for the (contest),” she explained.
Like her fellow winner Hilary Chong, Lovelle is most interested in acting with Moses Chan because of his work in 2004 drama “War and Beauty (金枝慾孽)”. But, her first interest after the pageant was food. “I’m so hungry,” she confessed. “Just now (because of) the swimsuits, we did not dare to eat too much. (So now,) we want to eat hot pot!”

Well, we’d like to offer our sincerest congratulations to Hilary Chong, Lynn Wang and Lovelle Wang for taking the top three in Miss Hong Kong 2023! We hope the girls all enjoyed their hot pot afterwards!
