It’s always exciting to enter a fancy, clean, and well-maintained restroom whenever we go out. Even Malaysian politician Nga Kor Ming previously stressed the importance of the management and cleanliness of public toilets.
Speaking of which, it appears that one particular restroom with a golden toilet caught his attention when he recently visited a popular coffee shop in Ipoh. Here’s what he said:
Recently, Nga Kor Ming, who is the Minister of Local Government Development, posted a set of photos on his official Twitter account of a golden toilet at a restroom in the Nam Heong coffee shop in Ipoh. The politician expressed his approval of the ‘high class’ golden toilet as well as his gratitude for the eatery for upgrading their restroom as seen in the screenshot above.
“Thank you to the famous Nam Heong coffee shop in Ipoh Old Town for their cooperation in accepting the KPKT’s recommendation to build a ‘BMW’ class clean toilet. This is not a decorative picture, but this sparkling gold toilet was just completed today. Well done & hope everyone keeps it clean!” he wrote.
The Pakatan Harapan member’s tweet garnered attention from netizens who were just as impressed as he was. Some, however, expressed that the toilet’s material does not necessarily guarantee its cleanliness. They also voiced concerns on whether the restroom will be well-maintained in the coming months or years. A few even suggested the public figure to return to the coffee shop in a few months for a surprise inspection.
While opinions were divided, we do have to agree that a fancy-looking toilet doesn’t necessarily mean it’s well-maintained. With that being said, it was previously reported that the government agreed to a new policy where Food and Beverages (F&B) establishments would not be able to renew their license if their toilets failed to receive an A grade.
We hope that the new policy will ensure that toilets everywhere, especially those in the F&B business are in good condition and continue to satisfy customers.
