While we shouldn’t assume anything just from someone’s appearance, we can’t help ourselves from being concerned about their health. A few years back, actor Jet Li (李连杰) shocked fans with his frail appearance, and now, concerns are rampant again after a video of the actor looking rather aged surfaced on Weibo.
The video was apparently for an endorsement, and the actor can be seen dressed in black and saying a few lines to the camera. However, the thing that caught netizens’ attention was his aged appearance because, in the video, his cheeks look sunken and his wrinkles are a lot more noticeable.
After the video was uploaded, netizens shared their concern over the actor’s looks, with some commenting that the 60-year-old looked a lot older than his age. One user commented, “He looks like an 80-year-old grandpa,” while another said, “Jet Li suddenly aged a lot.” However, one netizen pointed out that the actor used to perform his own stunts, which could have taken a toll on his physical health.
On the other hand, a few commenters speculated that his hyperthyroidism may have relapsed, thus explaining the change in appearance. The actor revealed his diagnosis in 2013 and has spoken about receiving treatments for it. As the condition could affect one’s appearance, this does sound like a possible reason.
As of writing, there has not been any explanation from the actor’s side, so we can only hope that the actor is healthy despite the speculations.
