Most go to Anime Fest to have fun and enjoy themselves. Unfortunately, this pervert almost ruined the fun when he was caught ‘upskirting’ aka snapping photos up girls’ skirts instead!
Anime Fest goers weren’t happy when they realised there was a pervert among them. Apparently, one girl had spotted the man in action and immediately spread the news. Thankfully, he was successfully caught on the third day!
On 30th April, a few netizens warned that there was someone ‘upskirting’ at the local Anime Fest, held in a shopping mall in Selangor. According to one female netizen who fell victim to the scheme, he was dressed in an all-black attire, had spectacles and was carrying a large merchandise bag.
“The suspect approached female cosplayers (to) request a group photo,” her friend explained in an added post. “While taking the photo, the suspect tried to nudge his bag closer to the victim’s dress. She happened to notice a flipped over phone (in the bag) with the camera pointing up her skirt. When she and her friends questioned him, the suspicious person quickly denied (it) and left.”
Many spread the PSA, hoping no others would fall victim to the man and his schemes. Luckily, people did stay vigilant because the very next day, the pervert was caught! One netizen claimed he had seen the man and recognised him and so, reported him to police officers who were at the venue.
The netizen added that the man, realising he’d been found out, had tried to delete the evidence on the phone. Luckily, the police managed to detain him in time. It was later revealed that the man had been wearing the exact same outfit as he tried his ‘upskirting’ antics again. Others were quick to praise the netizen for his role in catching the suspect.
It seems people have been getting much braver about taking advantage of others while in public. A few days ago, someone even reported another pervert for groping his girlfriend’s chest on the MRT! Well, we sincerely hope everyone stays vigilant, especially in public areas to deter further incidents.
