Maryam You Narae (유나래), famously known as the YouTube duo Durian Kimchi with her husband Ryzal Ibrahim, has gotten some unnecessary comments and requests from people just because she’s Korean. Previously, a famous brand allegedly asked the influencer to take off her hijab for a photoshoot, assuming she’d be fine with it.
Prior to that, the YouTuber was also met with negative comments for not practicing the Malaysian-Muslim confinement period. It looks like the negativity didn’t end there as she recently shared another ridiculous request people have asked of her.

Maryam posted a video on her TikTok of her looking upset while showing off the tattoo on her wrist accompanied by the song “Snooze x We Belong Together” mashup by AllieRock. Although she didn’t say anything in the video, the content creator wrote a caption to address the comments she’s been getting about the art on her skin.
“For so long people have been talking about my tattoo and asking me to remove it. Are only those without tattoos allowed to be Muslims?” she captioned. For your information, the mother-of-one got the body art before she converted to Islam and has no intention of getting it removed as it is not completely necessary after converting.
The TikTok post received overwhelming support from netizens who advised the YouTuber to simply ignore the haters. Some defended the public figure’s choice to keep her tattoo as tattoo removal can be extremely painful and expensive. Others reminded her that the sins of her past life have been forgiven thus she has no need to get the tattoo removed.
There were also a few netizens who can relate to Maryam as they themselves have tattoos from before converting to Islam. Whether the influencer wants to remove her tattoo or not, that’ll be her choice to make so let this be a reminder to keep some opinions to ourselves.
