On 27th February, residents of V Residence Suites at Sunway Velocity in Cheras were expecting to have a peaceful evening. Unfortunately, things became alarming when they realised someone was perched at the edge of their building.
Yesterday, the Fire and Rescue Department of Malaysia Pusat Gerakan Operasi Kuala Lumpur (PGOKL) reported they received a distress call from the residence. Apparently, someone was about to attempt suicide by jumping off the side of the building!

A video of the incident showed someone sitting on the ledge of the building, right between the apartments and the car park levels. The person was wearing a white shirt and black pants. According to Japari bin Tajudin, the rescue operation’s commander, the man who was in his 40s had been attempting to jump from the 4th floor.
The distress call was received around 7:30pm and eighteen firefighters were dispatched to help. They spent over an hour coaxing the man off the ledge. Meanwhile a crowd had gathered at the bottom, watching with bated breath.

Thankfully, the man was successfully rescued around 9pm. He has since been released to the police for further action. We sincerely hope he gets the help he needs.
