If you’re active on social media, you’ve probably come across many warnings, especially by women, about the dangers of fitting rooms and public restrooms. With today’s advanced technology, it’s easy for perverts to hide spy cams in public restrooms.
As for fitting rooms, many have warned others about 2-way mirrors as whoever is on the other side can see the victims changing. Of course, some don’t believe these things could happen (and chalk it up to paranoia), but you can never be too careful these days.
A netizen who goes by @meleisgw or Nishae recently posted a screenshot of what looks to be a private page or group from an unspecified social media site. The screenshot showed aerial view footage from inside the women’s fitting room taken from a spy cam. “From now on, I’m never going into fitting rooms whenever I go shopping. This is terrifying”, the Twitter user tweeted. She discovered the existence of this group after a friend shared the link with her.
Although the netizen did not mention where it happened, it’s been speculated by others that this allegedly took place at a famous clothing store in Kuala Lumpur. The tweet quickly went viral, reaching over 2 million views, 10.9k retweets, and over 4k quote tweets. Netizens reacted to the post with many asking for more info or update regarding the clothing store’s location so that they can avoid shopping there.
Yesterday (Tuesday, 10th January), one of the victims came forward. After the tweet went viral, an anonymous user DM-ed Nishae and claimed that she was one of the women in the video screenshot. She revealed the fitting room location and the mall as she went shopping there last October. In a follow-up DM, the victim recalled that she entered the last stall of the fitting room on the far left.
In another update, the Twitter user received another DM today (Wednesday, 11th January) saying that the other victim was their friend. Nishae encouraged the victims to come forward and joined her in lodging a police report together. At the time of writing, neither the fashion brand nor the mall have released an official statement regarding the spy cam.
