It appears that singer Nick Carter is going through a very difficult time in his life right now. The Backstreet Boys member recently lost his younger brother Aaron Carter who was found dead in a bathtub in his home in California. The 42-year-old also tried to remain strong while performing for fans a day after his sibling’s passing.
To rub salt into the wound, the singer was recently accused of sexually assaulting a disabled minor back in 2001. The accusations resulted in ABC no longer planning to air the Backstreet Boys’ Holiday Special which was originally set to be aired on 14th December. So what exactly did Nick Carter do? And is it true? Here’s what happened:

Last week, a disabled woman who goes by Shannon Ruth spoke out about Nick Carter when she announced her lawsuit against the celeb. According to the woman with autism and cerebral palsy, the “As Long as You Love Me” singer allegedly raped her when she was 17 and he was 21. She explained in full detail what happened during a press conference. The incident allegedly took place back in 2001 on the boyband’s tour bus.
“The last 21 years have been filled with pain, confusion, frustration, shame, and self-harm that are a direct result of Nick Carter raping me,” said Shannon while sobbing. She mentioned that the singer also called her a ‘retarded bitch’ after the alleged rape and left bruises on her arm. She added that Nick intimidated her by saying, “no one would believe me if I told what happened. He was nasty and threatening, saying I would go to jail if I told. He also said he had the power to wreck my life.”
The disabled woman continued her story by revealing that she spiralled into depression and self-harm as a result of the alleged incident. So is she telling the truth? According to the 42-year-old’s attorney, the allegations are meritless and untrue. Apparently, this wasn’t Shannon’s first attempt of accusing Nick of rape. The singer’s legal team said that the woman has been manipulated into making false accusations for several years by an opportunistic lawyer.

“Those allegations have changed repeatedly and materially over time. There is nothing to this claim whatsoever, which we have no doubt the courts will quickly realize,” said Nick’s lawyer. This is also not the first time Nick Carter was accused of raping a minor as singer Melissa Schuman once made similar accusations back in 2018.
As for the other Backstreet Boys members, they have yet to release a statement following the cancellation of their Holiday Special after the sexual assault allegations were made. Here’s the video of the recent press conference:
