AirAsia hasn’t been in good light lately as the airline is still working on to fully refund passengers for their cancelled flights during the Covid-19 pandemic. But last month, CEO of AirAsia, now known as Capital A, Tan Sri Tony Fernandes announced in an Instagram post that the company promises a full refund to its customers.
While passengers wait for their refunds, some people have been quite fortunate to have landed a job as a cabin crew and an internship at the airline company. Speaking of jobs, gig riders may not have to worry about paying rents and bills anymore as AirAsia has got something new in-stored for them.

Today (Thursday, 4th August), AirAsia officially announced on their website that their airasia Super App is providing full-time employment for gig riders, becoming the first in Asia to do so. The decision came as part of the app’s commitment in giving the riders a better working environment and job stability, while also enhancing income opportunities.
Other than the monthly RM3k income, riders will also get to enjoy the Allstar benefits which include:
- EPF
- SOCSO
- Medical coverage (for immediate family as well)
- Annual leaves
- Travel benefits (AirAsia Flights ID90 and e-coupon schemes)
“We are thrilled to be welcoming the riders into our family. As many people know, airasia has always been about people, and we believe that people are our greatest asset. This applies across all of Capital A’s business units, including the airasia Super App,” said Fernandes. He also added that the full-time employment is more than just receiving the Allstar benefits as he believes it will help the riders in achieving their dreams.

One of the riders who recently hopped onboard as a full-time AirAsia food rider gave his comments on what he thinks about the new opportunity. “Now, I have better peace of mind knowing that I am able to carry out my delivery duties with a secure income, job stability, and other benefits that enable me to care for my family and have a better standard of living,” said Muhammad Redzuan Mohammed Afni.
