The year 2021 is certainly a bizarre one for celebrity weddings where we were usually in awe of their lavish and grand weddings, but due to the ongoing pandemic, they had to opt for a smaller wedding and in socially distant ways.
Our local celebrities’ wedding plans may have changed due to the current pandemic, but even the Covid-19 crisis can’t stop wedding bells from ringing. Our local stars were eager to tie the knot and here, we’ve listed down all the 2021 local celebrities’ weddings and marriages that you need to know about so far.
Ayda Jebat & Nabil Mahir
Singer and actress Ayda Jebat kicked off the new year by officially getting hitched to her TV personality husband, Nabil Mahir at Masjid Al Taqwa, in Taman Tun Dr Ismail (TTDI) on 1st January this year. The modest wedding ceremony was held following the new normal routine and was only attended by family members and close friends.
Ayda Jebat updated on her Instagram on Tuesday (21st September) that she had to undergo surgery to give birth to her baby girl, Ana Nayla binti Ahmad Nabil. According to the “Parah Parah” songstress, she gave birth to her first child surgically a week earlier than the planned date.
Neelofa & PU Riz
The popular celebrity entrepreneur and modest fashion icon Noor Neelofa officially wedded her husband, PU Riz (full name Haris Ismail) in a private yet lavish ceremony held at the Grand Hyatt Hotel in Kuala Lumpur in March. The wedding hall was decorated in an all-white décor, including the fresh white roses that beautified the bridal dais.
Neelofa wowed 200 guests with a white ensemble bridal dress inspired by Greek goddesses adorned with 5,000 Swarovski crystals designed by Malaysian fashion designer Alia Bastamam. The couple’s wedding celebration was dubbed “wedding of the year” by various local media outlets and the ceremony featured four tonnes of fresh ivory blooms and door gifts of Lancôme skincare.

Elizabeth Tan & Siew Jim
Popular singer Elizabeth Tan broke the hearts of many fans when news of her wedding circulated online in March this year. The 28-year-old singer tied the knot with her businessman hubby Siew Jim in an intimate and private ceremony in a church in Gombak.
Elizabeth confirmed the rumour of her marriage after photos and videos of her wedding went viral online to the surprise of fans. According to the star, the wedding was held following the SOPs with only 10 of her family members and close friends in attendance.
J-Mie Wong & Curtis Fu

The Malaysian influencer J-Mie Wong (猪咪) married her beau, Taiwanese actor-YouTuber Curtis Fu (傅冠傑) in July. The couple announced the big news on their social media accounts.
Curtis and J-Mie started dating in 2018 and their plan to get married was postponed due to the ongoing pandemic. Luckily, things worked out in their favour and the couple tied their knot on 27th July this year. Check out their lovely wedding announcement down below:
Remy Ishak & Ezza Yusof
Another couple who started a new chapter in their life this year is none other than our local Hero Malaya, Remy Ishak and his partner Ezza Yusof. The couple got married in a simple solemnisation ceremony at Masjid Negara Kuala Lumpur in August.
Due to the ongoing pandemic, their wedding was held off at least 3 times before the final date was set on 21st August. The ceremony was held in private, abiding by the SOPs set by MKN and Jawi. The intimate wedding event was attended by only the bride’s older brother as her male guardian (Wali).

Elisya Sandha & Uzair Haqimy
Actress Elisya Sandha officially got married to her husband, Uzair Haqimy in a private ceremony that took place at the Gombak District Islamic Religious Office in August also. The couple had their marriage officiated by the bride’s father, Mohd Faisal Abdullah.
In a simple ceremony in compliance with the Standard Operating Procedure (SOP), Elisya received a dowry in the form of a white gold bracelet and remittance amounting to RM22,222.22. Elisya remarked that they were supposed to get married on 22nd February next year, but due to the uncertainty in regards to the current pandemic, the couple decided to speed up the solemnisation event.
Zizi Kirana & Yusuf Bahrin
Malaysian singer Zizi Kirana recently surprised many with her marriage to 29-year-old actor Yusuf Bahrin. The couple’s nuptial was informed by Zizi’s manager prior to the solemnisation event that was held on 19th September at the Usamah bin Zaid Mosque in Wangsa Maju, Kuala Lumpur.
The rapper has since released a video of the couple’s solemnisation on her social media, captioning, “Praise be to God, we are safely wedded. Thanks for all the prayers from our families, friends and everybody. May Allah bless us all.”
The newlyweds first met at the filming of the reality show “All Together Now Malaysia” earlier this year, before Yusuf took a step by contacting Zizi back in May. The two decided to tie the knot after two months of dating. Zizi stated that they are planning to hold two receptions – in Zizi’s hometown in Sabah and Yusuf’s hometown in Melaka.

Haqiem Rusli & Anis Sofea

Malaysian singer Haqiem Rusli officially tied the knot with his partner, Anis Sofea, in a traditional akad nikah ceremony held at the Raja Haji Fi Sabilillah mosque in Cyberjaya, last Friday (19th November). Their wedding reception took place that same night (themed “Wedding In The Sky”) at the skyGlass Designer Event Hall Cyberjaya. Reportedly, the cost for the wedding ceremony is estimated to be more than RM7 million.
Puteri Aishah & Muhammad Firdaus

Yesterday (Sunday, 21st November) the beautiful actress Puteri Aishah officially wedded her businessman beau, Muhammad Firdaus, 28, at the JW Marriot Ballroom in Kuala Lumpur around 11:15 in the morning. During the traditional ceremony, the “Dewi Remaja” alum was solemnised by Qadi Ustaz Mohd. Abdul Nasir Abdullah, with her father, Sulaiman Abd. Rahman, acting as witness.
As reported by Kosmo, Puteri received a dowry of RM300 along with a total of five hantaran trays from the groom, while the bride handed over seven trays. However, the full amount of mahr was not revealed at the request of the newlyweds’ family members.

Zee Avi & Kenji Matano

Last night (Monday, 22nd November), the “Kantoi” singer surprised her fans by announcing that she’s already married to her Japanese partner, Kenji Matano. Local portal mStar reported that the wedding ceremony took place at a surau in Ampang, Kuala Lumpur.
Just hours ago, Zee Avi (full name Izyan Alirahman) also took to her Instagram to personally reveal the exciting news to her followers online. She uploaded a video of her in her wedding dress, where she showed off her ring.
“Kenji and I would like to extend our deepest gratitude for all your wishes. We are both very excited to start this journey together and we thank you all so much for being so kind,” the Miri-born artiste expressed.
