Sunway Pyramid is the third mall this week to be connected to Covid-19 cases, following reports from The Linc KL and Suria KLCC.
Just hours ago, the Bandar Sunway mall released a statement, confirming that a staff working at the Nike outlet on first floor had tested positive for Covid-19. It added that the person in question “had a travelling history”.

The full statement reads:

We would like to assure all tenants, vendors and customers that the case is an isolated case and has been attended to immediately upon identification, together with the affected tenant in full compliance with the Ministry of Health (MOH) guidelines.
MOH has also reached out to those who have had close contact with the affected, and have been ordered to do screening and self-quarantine. The case is well managed and under control due to the swift actions taken by the tenant together with the authorities.

“We have also been working closely with the affected tenant to coordinate holistically the completion of deep sanitisation work, as well as securing timely and accurate updates to address the matter effectively and efficiently.

Having said that, the mall failed to disclose the starting date or duration of working for the staff who contracted Covid-19. If you’ve visited Sunway Pyramid, particularly the Nike store this week, it’s advisable to self-quarantine just to be safe.
