Remember last August when Cristiano Ronaldo came on board as regional brand ambassador for Shopee?
It looks like his contract will no longer continue after partnering with the e-commerce platform for less than 10 months. The announcement was released yesterday evening (Tuesday, 30th June).
Zhou Junjie, chief commercial officer of Shopee and head of Shopee Singapore, previously shared Cristiano Ronaldo was chosen because “he is known for his tremendous focus, dedication, and determination”. Plus, he’s also “a household name and a unifying figure”.
In light of the contractual agreement, “all publications, banners, or any materials which include Mr Cristiano Ronaldo’s image, related to Shopee” are required to be removed before 5th July 2020.
As you may know, many fans were amused to see the Portuguese professional footballer dancing awkwardly to the Baby Shark tune from the 9.9 Super Shopping Day advertisement.
