Earlier this week, many of us were shocked at the circulation of photos depicting local cinema seats covered in dust and mould. Since then, there has been a lot of speculation going around.
GSC, TGV, Lotus Five Star Cinemas and MBO Cinemas have all stepped forth to clarify that the aforementioned images doesn’t belong to their outlets. Only mmCineplexes has remained silent so far.
In press release, TGV stated:
“As we play a special role of a social destination where people can come together to be entertained and especially in these unprecedented times, our customers’ and employees’ health and safety are of top priority. We have very strict cinema hygiene and cleanliness procedures which include having the halls thoroughly cleaned after every movie and all equipment at the Candy Bar to be wiped and washed daily.
These strict guidelines were not taken for granted even during the MCO period. Our cinema managers are scheduled to visit each cinema for a thorough check at least twice a week to make sure that all equipment is properly stored, the walls, curtains, carpets, seats as well as screens in the cinema halls are thoroughly sanitised and wiped clean.
We understand that it is vital to diligently follow the maximum safety standards which will ensure peace-of-mind cinematic moments for all our customers upon reopening after our closure period.”
GSC also posted an update, stating that rumours about GSC Suria Sabah being affected is completely false. They even provided a few pictures for good measure.
