Oh boy, things aren’t looking good for China. Following the outbreak of the Coronavirus in Wuhan, 4 new Chinese New Year titles have been postponed.
TGV Cinemas, GSCinemas and MBO Cinemas all released statements on their respective Facebook pages informing movie-goers of the last-minute cancellation.
As pictured in the poster above, the 4 CNY movies are “Vanguard” (急先锋), “Detective Chinatown 3” (唐人街探案 3), “The Rescue” (紧急救援) as well as “Jiang Zi Ya: Legend of Deification” (姜子牙).
Due to the severity of the Wuhan’s Coronavirus, the studios in China have collectively made the call to postpone worldwide theatrical releases. Those who have purchased tickets in advanced may refer to the local distributors for refund.
We have attached the statements from TGV and MBO below:
As for GSCinemas, those who have purchased tickets online, your purchases will be refunded within 14 working days. If you have purchased tickets from the Box Office counter or e-kiosk, do proceed to the cinema where you have purchased your tickets to get your refund within the next 7 days.
Fret not, there are other Chinese New Year movies available in cinemas.
