Is Angelina Jolie venturing into the superhero realm by joining the Marvel Cinematic Universe?
The Oscar-winning actress is currently in discussion with Marvel Studios to possibly star in “The Eternals”. With next month’s “Avengers: Endgame” concluding MCU’s Phase 3, Phase 4 is already taking shape.
To quote io9, “The Eternals” was “created by Jack Kirby in 1976…the Eternals are an offshoot of humanity, evolved by the space-bound, godlike beings known as the Celestials (like Star-Lord’s dad Ego in ‘Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2’) millions of years in Earth’s past, granting them powers and the ability to manipulate cosmic energies themselves.”
“While details about the movie are being kept under wraps, sources tell The Hollywood Reporter that one aspect to the story involves the love story between Ikaris, a man fueled by cosmic energy, and Sersi, who relishes moving amongst humans,” THR reports.
There’s no word yet on who Jolie might be playing. That’s because Marvel hasn’t officially announced it yet, or which characters will be included. Marvel CEO Kevin Feige has acknowledged before and Chloe Zhao will be directing the movie but that’s all we know for now.
Having said that, Screen Rant suggests that the 43-year-old A-lister could be playing 1 of the 3 female roles in Marvel – Sersi, Thena, and Elysius. Guess we’ll have to wait and see.
