The saying “the apple doesn’t fall far from the tree” appropriately describes Donnie Yen’s children who seem to inherit their father’s knack as an entertainer.
Last weekend, Donnie (甄子丹) and his whole family including his wife Cissy Wang (汪詩詩) and 2 kids; 14-year-old Jasmine Yen (甄濟如) and 10-year-old James Yen (甄濟嘉) attended Hong Kong Academy for Performing Arts’ annual Academy Ball.
During the prestigious event, his children are among the performers slated to perform for the night, and Donnie noted that it was James’ first public performance.
The siblings performed the song “Rewrite the Stars” from “The Greatest Showman” where James took on the piano while Jasmine was on vocals.

Many people praised the siblings’ performance, especially Jasmine who even caught the attention of famous Mainland singer Tan Jin (譚晶).
It is not surprising to know that Donnie Yen’s children have music talent considering that Donnie himself is not only a master on martial arts, but also piano, having achieved the Grade 8 piano level.
Not only that, Donnie also possesses singing skill as shown in “An Inspector Calls” (浮華宴) and he also performed with Jay Chou (周杰倫) on stage in one of his concerts.
Thus, it make sense that Jasmine would have inherited some of his father’s musical talents. In fact, she might have inherited it from her grandparents as Donnie came from a family of musicians where his father was a violinist and his mother was a soprano singer.
Fans also wondered if Donnie’s children will also inherit their father’s acting ability. For now, only time will tell.
