While the rest of the 2PM has re-signed with JYP Entertainment, Taecyeon has decided to part ways with the label.
Taecyeon, who is currently in the military, was revealed to have signed with 51K, a small entertainment company set up by actor So Ji Sub. Fortunately, JYP Entertainment has confirmed that he is still part of 2PM, and will join the group for future activities.

51K officially announced the news on Wednesday (25th July). The company is said to be “extremely pleased and lucky to be able to work with Taecyeon”, who is successful as both a singer and an actor.
While 51K was actually set-up to be a one-man agency for So Ji Sub in 2009, it has grown into a bigger company with publishing, broadcasting, and music activities.
A source from JYP Entertainment also stated that 2PM is still a 6-membered group and their activities will still be managed by them.

51K’s full statement reads:
“We will wholeheartedly give our full support for his activities as an actor so that Ok Taecyeon may showcase his talents to their fullest potential through a variety of works. As many fans have shown him love for a long time through 2PM’s group activities, we will also do our absolute best so that he may continue pursuing 2PM’s activities with JYP Entertainment.”
With the experience he has built over the years, Taecyeon, who is currently carrying out his military service, is happy about his new start with 51K. He vowed to return to the industry more matured so that he may repay all the fans for their love. We will do our best together so that Taecyeon, who will be active not only in Korea but around the world, and his many talents may shine even more.”

Taecyeon enlisted as an active duty soldier in September 2017. Fellow members Jun.K and Wooyoung have also gone for their mandatory conscription, and this will be followed by Junho and Chansung. Nichkhun is not required to as he is a Thai national.
