Choo, choo! All aboard the Pikachu train!
In collaboration with The Pokemon Company, Japan’s JR East railway company’s new Pikachu-themed train is the latest addition to the “Pokemon with You” campaign – a disaster relief project that was launched to help children hit by the 2011 Tōhoku earthquake.
The cute yellow train will begin service on 15th July and like its predecessor, the Pokemon train, it runs on the Ofunato line (from Ichinoseki station to Kesennuma station).
The 2-car carriage train has a capacity of 46 passengers and its interior features plenty of Pikachus. According to AsiaOne, JR East also aims to have the train’s yellow and brown bench seats facing each other, in the hopes that families sit with each other during the ride.
And that’s not all, the train even has a playroom filled with giant stuffed Pikachu toys for the kids!
