If it has always been your dream to travel to the beautiful island of Mauritius, now’s your last chance.
AirAsia X will be discontinuing their Kuala Lumpur to Mauritius route come the end of March. This unfortunate decision was made as part of the company’s restructuring efforts.
The network restructuring is aimed at “improving operational efficiencies in term of aircraft utilisations”. They continued, “It is also to accelerate capacity growth in AirAsia X key markets of Australia, China, Taiwan, Japan, and Korea.” In other words, we might be seeing an increase in flights to and fro the aforementioned countries.
Although AirAsia X has not officially announced the cancellation of the route on their website, their promo page showed that the last travel period for Kuala Lumpur – Mauritius will be on 25th March.
AirAsia X is one of the rare airlines offering direct flights from Malaysia to Mauritius and vice versa, with Air Mauritius being the other one. However, there’s an obvious difference in price. AirAsia X’s tickets typically cost around RM1,000 while Air Mauritius’ are priced at around RM4,000 on average.
The budget airline currently flies 3 times per week to Mauritius, with flights from Kuala Lumpur departing on Tuesday, Friday, and Sunday; and flights from Mauritius flying on Monday, Wednesday, and Saturday.
