YG Entertainment’s power girl group, 2NE1 (투애니원), will be releasing their final track, titled “Good Bye” (굿바이), on Saturday (21st January) as a farewell gift to Blackjacks.
Former member Minzy, who did not participate in the recording, took to Instagram to share her thoughts about the song. Apparently, she only found out about it via a news article.
In her caption, she wrote, “It’s a shame that I had to find out 2NE1 will be releasing their final album through a news article. This is very unfortunate as I was previously a member of the group 2NE1, but I share the same feelings as the other members in wanting to show appreciation and bid farewell to everyone for all their love and support of 2NE1.”
She also took the opportunity to thank her fans for all the love 2NE1 has received and expressed hope that fans can support the members’ individual careers.

Her post has received mixed reactions from Blackjacks. While some felt that Minzy is being left out on purpose, others called her pretentious and childish.
“Didn’t the other members contact her? It’s not like fans didn’t inform or even flood her SNS accounts about the goodbye song. Saying that she find it out through news article makes me think she wants to look pitiful and the aggrieved one in the situation. I do love her but this post is lacking and seems like she is sugar-coating her words. Sigh,” wrote one Instagram user.
Minzy left 2NE1 on 5th April 2016 to pursue her solo career. 2NE1 officially disbanded on 25th November 2016, with CL and Sandara Park renewing their contracts with YG.
UPDATE (20th January, 4:30pm):
In other related news, the CEO of YG Entertainment, Yang Hyun Suk, named Park Bom as the main reason behind the 2NE1’s split.
“I wanted to protect 2NE1 when Minzy moved to another label but the reason why I decided on their disbandment was because I believed that Park Bom’s mental health was not well. After that incident (her drug scandal), the criticism she received was immense,” he explained during a recent with Yonhap News.
He added that Bom suffered from stress and guilt, even though she is determined to continue promoting with her members. “I told her, ‘2NE1 is important, but I wish for you to be healthy, both mentally and physically,’” he continued.
But Yang believes that this is not be the end of 2NE1, saying, “You never know what can happen so there may come a day when they reunite like S.E.S. I believe that day will come.”
We hope that day will come too 🙁
