Fans of BLΛƆKPIИK (블랙핑크, BLACKPINK), you now have an official name to call yourselves.
3 days ago, YG Entertainment took to the K-Pop idol girl group’s official Instagram account to share an artwork which said nothing else but “BLINK“. BLACKPINK’s followers were at first confused over the ambiguous post as it could mean anything i.e. BLACKPINK has a couple more songs that have not seen the light of day.
A few days later, BLACKPINK member Jennie Kim (김제니) celebrated her 21st birthday (on 16th January) and wrote a sweet message to fans via an Instagram post.
Jennie shared a photo of herself smiling adorably at the camera while being surrounded by what looks like gifts and captioned it with a message in both Korean and English. The English caption reads, “BLINK my favourite people on this planet ? I can’t thank you guys enough for all the gifts and letters ?? I am so blessed to have you guys ? I am more than thankful for all the love I received today. I love you my blinks ✨”
We suppose “BLINK” is just short for “BLACKPINK” minus the “ACKP” and that’s alright. We like it 😉
BLACKPINK, which consists of members Rosé, Jisoo, Lisa, and Jennie debuted back in August 2016 and is YG Entertainment’s first K-Pop idol girl group since the debut of 2NE1 in 2009. They’ve quickly shot to fame, becoming a multiple award-winning rookie group, bagging “Best Rookie Award, Female Singer” at the 2016 Asia Artist Awards, “New Artiste of the Year” at the 2017 Golden Disk Awards, “Best New Artiste” at the 2016 Melon Music Awards, “Best Of Next Artiste Award (Female)” at the 2016 Mnet Asian Music Awards (MAMA), just to name a few.
Are you a BLINK? 😉
