The “Underworld” franchise has been pitting vampires against werewolves since 2003, and for the upcoming 5th instalment, the war is about to get even bloodier.
In “Underworld: Blood Wars”, Kate Beckinsale is back in all her latex-clad glory as the badass vampire death dealer, Selene. She’s now being hunted for her enhanced vampire blood – which just might be the key to stop the eternal war once and for all.

This time around, the powerful lycan army is led by the confident and determined Marius. The lycans are in pursuit of Selene’s blood for one reason only: to gain immortality and subsequently an upper hand to fight the vampire faction and their death dealers.
The official synopsis is as follows:
“Underworld: Blood Wars follows Vampire death dealer, Selene (Kate Beckinsale) as she fends off brutal attacks from both the Lycan clan and the Vampire faction that betrayed her. With her only allies, David (Theo James) and his father Thomas (Charles Dance), she must stop the eternal war between Lycans and Vampires, even if it means she has to make the ultimate sacrifice.”

Originally “Blood Wars” was intended to be a reboot, but after Beckinsale agreed to return for the lead role, Lakeshore Entertainment and Screen Gems retooled it to be a direct sequel. The actress in leather-clad is after all, the main draw to the “Underworld” franchise.
As Cheryl Eddy points out, who cares about the storyline? People are mostly going to watch this film for the “catsuits, capes, sneering threats, murky mythology, gun battles, artfully messy hairdos, and slo-mo fight scenes”, as well as a ton of bloodshed that will quench your CGI action scene thirst.
