The move was implemented to encourage commuters to travel before rush hour, and to reduce the crowd during peak hours. The Prime Minister announced this during the launch of LRT3 project in Stadium Malawati, Shah Alam.
He also revealed several details about LRT3, which will benefit approximately 2 million people. The system, expected to be completed by 2020, will be 37km-long, and connects 26 stations from Bandar Utama to Johan Setia. Construction is slated to begin in early 2017, and will be integrated with the existing MRT (Mass Rapid Transit), KTM Komuter, BRT (Bus Rapid Transit), and Kelana Jaya Line LRT systems.
