Last we checked, April Fools’ Day is over. So when we read that 2 members of the British royal family have been picked to join the cast of “Star Wars: Episode VIII”, we did a double take.

According to The Daily Mail, William and Harry secretly filmed cameo roles as Stormtroopers for the next “Star Wars” blockbuster.

The Princes visited the Pinewood Studios set of “Star Wars: Episode VIII” last week, where they met director Rian Johnson, stars Mark Hamill (Luke Skywalker) and Daisy Ridley (Rey), and crew members.

In the scene that the Royals filmed, they appeared alongside Daisy Ridley, John Boyega (Finn), and Oscar-winner Benicio del Toro, who is believed to be playing new villain Lord Vikram.

A source reportedly told The Daily Mail, The line given was that they were going to have lunch and a private tour of the rest of the set. What really happened is that the director came over and told them it was time to “get suited” and off they went to the wardrobe department.”

“The princes dressed up in full stormtrooper gear and filmed a scene in which Rey and Finn infiltrate a secret baseThe rebel characters are in a lift with Benicio del Toro’s character when a group of stormtroopers enter – two of whom are William and Harry,” the source added.

Disney and the Princes’ spokesman neither confirmed nor denied the news so at this point, there is really no way of knowing if it is indeed true. In fact, since they’ll be appearing incognito as masked Stormtroopers, there would really be no way of knowing unless if the Princes confirm it themselves. It’d be a cool story for Prince William to tell his kids (George and Charlotte) though!

William and Harry won’t be the first well-known figures to make a secret cameo in a “Star Wars” film. Last year’s “Star Wars: The Force Awakens” featured Daniel Craig as a First Order grunt aka the Stormtrooper who Rey convinces to remove her restraints and leave the door open.

Daniel easily waltzed into the role as he was filming “Spectre” at Pinewood Studios around the same time that “Star Wars: The Force Awakens” was being shot. Brings a whole new meaning to “Oh, I just happened to be in the area”, if you asked us.

Star Wars: Episode VIII” stars Luke Hamill, Daisy Ridley, John Boyega, Carrie Fisher, Adam Driver, Andy Serkis, Lupita Nyong’o, Oscar Isaac, and newcomers Benicio Del Toro and Laura Dern. The film is slated to be released on 15th December 2017.
