The Canadian-Chinese idol-turned-actor has been casted in the upcoming “xXx: The Return of Xander Cage” film aka “xXx3” along with actress Hermione Corfield, who is best known for her role in “Mr. Holmes”.
This was confirmed by director D.J. Caruso, who took to his Twitter to announce:

The original “xXx” (pronounced “Triple X”) movie was released in 2002. The American action film stars Diesel as Xander “XXX” Cage, a former extreme sports athlete and a stuntman who turned into a reluctant spy for the National Security Agency. He is sent on a dangerous mission to infiltrate a group of potential Russian terrorists in Central Europe.
The movie was a box office success and later spawned a sequel, “xXx: State of the Union” (released as “xXx: The Next Level” outside the US and Canada) in 2005. The character Xander Cage was supposedly killed in the sequel to explain his absence, but he apparently survived.
As of now, not much is known about “xXx: The Return of Xander Cage” but the plot is as follows:
“Xander Cage is presumed dead after an incident, though he secretly returns to action for a new, tough assignment with his handler Augustus Gibbons, the NSA agent, and returns as an xXx agent while he gets into a showdown with the mysterious Raif.”
Filming for “xXx: The Return of Xander Cage” kicked off in Toronto in January 2016. It’ll be shot in both Toronto and the Philippines.
“xXx: The Return of Xander Cage” will mark Kris‘ 2nd international movie after Luc Besson’s “Valerian and the City of a Thousand Planets“.
Apart from sharing screen with Vin Diesel and Bollywood actress Deepika Padukone, he will also be joining the likes of Jet Li, “The Vampire Diaries” star Nina Dobrev, Tony Jaa, “Orange Is The New Black” actress Ruby Rose, Samuel L. Jackson, and Hermione Corfield.
“xXx: The Return of Xander Cage” is the 3rd installment to the original “xXx” and it is slated for release sometime in 2017.
