We were supposed to be only getting our first look at the “Star Trek Beyond” trailer during the premiere of “Star Wars: The Force Awakens” but it just got released ahead of time!
There’s a valid reason for that, of course.
Apparently, a German-language version of the “Star Trek Beyond” trailer was leaked onto YouTube, a move that could’ve forced Paramount to just release the official one earlier than expected. Not that we’re complaining, really!
The trailer features Beastie Boys’ “Sabotage”, which is a nice touch and awesome callback to the song’s use in 2009’s “Star Trek”, the reboot that was directed by J.J. Abrams.
And since the “Fast & Furious” veteran Justin Lin has taken over the director’s seat for “Star Trek Beyond”, it looks like Trekkies can expect laugh-out-loud-worthy gags and a freewheeling action-adventure minus the “Star Trek Into Darkness” moodiness.
1:36 minutes is not enough! We want more.

UPDATE (23rd May):
“You spent all this time trying to be your father. Now you’re wondering..just what it means to be you.”
A new trailer for “Star Trek Beyond” has been released and it looks like new fans as well as the hardcore ones will finally have something to be really excited about. Premiered during a fan event over the weekend, the clip allows us to feast our eyes on a new set of dazzling images and scenes. We also get to see the Enterprise getting attacked by a torrent of alien vehicles, which is perhaps new bad guy Krall’s (played by Idris Elba) doing.
And yes, Krall finally gets some screen time in the trailer.
It’s also important to note that the new trailer is without a Beastie Boys soundtrack or any random/goofy pop soundtrack for that matter. Thank goodness! Major points to the terrific score that did wonders for impact and helped us finally take a “Star Trek Beyond” trailer seriously. Also, motorcycles. Let’s not dismiss the motorcycles.
“Our Captain will come for us. Mercy will be that last thing on his mind.”

UPDATE (28th June, 11:20pm):
“My dad joined Starfleet ’cause he believed in it. I joined it on a dare.”
In just under a month of the release of Justin Lin’s “Star Trek Beyond”, Paramount Pictures has dropped the 3rd and final trailer for the galactic adventure film. Featuring snippets from Rihanna’s latest single, titled “Sledgehammer”, the trailer focuses on James Kirk’s (played by Chris Pine) role as captain of his fleet.

P/S: If you like Rihanna’s “Sledgehammer”, you can Shazam it for the full song. Don’t say we didn’t share ;)
“Star Trek Beyond” is slated for release on 22nd July 2016.
