“…Indiana Jones. I always knew someday you’d come walking back through my door. I never doubted that. Something made it inevitable.”
The quote above was taken from the movie and hey, what a subtle hint it was.
In 2013, Disney bought over the “Indiana Jones” franchise from Paramount and since then Lucasfilm and The Walt Disney Company have been working on several reboots for 2016 including “Star Wars“, “Ghostbusters“, “Finding Dory” and so forth but the two studios have been keeping a tight lid about the rumours on the highly anticipated “Indiana Jones 5” movie.
Ain’t It Cool was first to report the news and asserts that a “long-time and trustworthy” insider revealed to them that Lucasfilm intends to release the next chapter of the “Indiana Jones” adventure in the forth quarter of 2018.
In case you were wondering, yes, Harrison Ford will return to the new “Indiana Jones” film but it is still unclear if he’ll be reprising his role as Indy given that there have been talks about “Jurassic World” star Chris Pratt holding the titular role in the reboot. As previously reported, Chris denied because no one has officially approached him about his role but he did mentioned to Nerdist Podcast that he only had one conversation about becoming archaeologist Indiana Jones.
From what we know, “Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of Crystal Skull” will not be the last instalment in the “Indiana Jones” series, as producer Kathleen Kennedy has confirmed in Vanity Fair. She claims that the film “will one day be made inside this company. When it will happen, I’m not quite sure. We haven’t started working on a script yet, but we are talking about it.”
But on the other hand, Kennedy’s spouse, the producer for four “Indiana Jones” movies, Frank Marshall said otherwise in an interview with SlashFilm. He said:
“No, there’ve been no discussions on that. We’ve had no discussions on ‘Indy 5′ to date.”
While Chris Pratt, Marshall and Kennedy share similar feedbacks in regards to the fact that no final decisions and what the fifth instalment of “Indiana Jones” is going to be like, we can safely assume that a new “Indiana Jones” movie will eventually happen.
