“Time”. A luxury that some of us don’t have, not even for ourselves, let alone to play couch potato. More often than not, we miss out a lot on TV because of our schedules. And then we think, why bother subscribing to an expensive satellite TV service when we’re not going to use it?

Well, it’s all going to come to an end now.

Yesterday evening, Astro announced the launch of “Prabayar NJOI“, Malaysia’s first satellite TV prepaid service. Like your standard prepaid telco service, it’s a pay-as-you-use or rather, pay-as-you-watch service (in accordance with your viewing and budget needs) that is now available to all NJOI customers to access premium content on additional channels, on top of the existing 18 TV and 19 radio channels.

The initial prepaid packages that come with this new service are:

  • Mustika (Astro Citra, Astro Warna, Astro Bella)
  • Indo Pek (Bintang and Pelangi)
  • Chinese Movies and Dramas (Celestial Movies, TVB Xing He, Astro Shuang Xing)

Each package is available via a RM20 prepaid voucher that can be purchased with no recurring subscription fees or contractual obligations from NJOI appointed retailers (over 1,000 outlets nationwide). Upon purchase and activation (via phone or SMS), NJOI customers will enjoy a 15-day viewing access to relevant prepaid package.

For more pictures from the launch, go here.

In short, you’re looking at premium general entertainment and movies content from as low as RM1.33 per day. What a steal! It’s safe to say that we’re already big fans of this service. Can’t wait for more packages to be released in the future!
