2 New Footwear Drops From ASICS & adidas Are So Cool, We Can’t Even!

The year is close to ending, and if you’re looking to level up your New Year drip, then adidas and ASICS have you covered with amazing wave footwear.

From next-level futuristic kicks, to elegant but simple sneakers – here are dope footwear to cop before the year ends.

The AE1 Low In “Iron Sharpens Iron”

Ever since its debut, the AE 1 sneakers have become the most sought-after pair of footwear in adidas’s entire collection. Despite being only one year old, these premium shoes have received multiple variations and redesigns, and it looks like they’ll be getting another prismatic, almost futuristic variation before the year ends, known as “Iron Metallic” or “Iron Sharpens Iron.”

The latest iteration still features the iconic honeycomb mesh uppers, this time in an iridescent blue-silver. Thanks to their reflective finish, the shoes emits various shades of purple, blues, and pink depending on their relationship to a light source. The chromatic quality of the pair stands out further thanks to the monochromatic black collar, laces, and eyelets

Despite its overall dark hue, it still features a streak of bright colours in the form of detailed accents scattered about the footwear. These “Solar Orange” hues are predominantly featured on the shoes’s sole and tongue tab. This “Solar Orange” can also be spotted on the shoe’s sole indentation as well as the three-stripe logo that sits atop the carbon fibre heel counter.

The AE1 Low In “Iron Sharpens Iron” will be available on 29th November at the adidas web store for US$110 (~RM491).

ASICS Protoblast-CMLVIII

In nearly 75 years of industry dominance, ASICS has dipped its toes in various trends and design languages to see what works for the brand. Throughout this period, the Japanese sportswear label has expanded its reach and even birthed sub-labels that dabble in the absurd. One such sub-label is Kiko Kostadino’s Novalis.

This London-based designer is best known for marketing products in the most ludicrous way possible. However, the products the brand is selling are anything but silly – case in point, the new Protoblast-CMLVIII.

Made in collaboration with OTTO 958, the Protoblast-CMLVIII is known for its simplicity to the point that it does nothing to actively grab your attention, blending in with everyday apparel. The green leather uppers of the sneaker are adorned with a single chrome stripe. This shade of green returns to give colour to the textile lining and outsole. This perfectly contrasts with the black leather accents that match the black mesh tongue and trace the collar, eyelets, and heel counter. The knitted textile lining and outsole both have hints of green reprise.

The ASICS and OTTO 589 logo can be seen from every side: the brand’s simple ‘O’ logo is placed on top of the green toebox, and a black ‘OTTO 598’ is embroidered into the lateral panels. The green embroidery along the collar and the tongue’s customary placement are both instances of ASICS branding.

The OTTO 598 x ASICS Protoblast-CMLVIII is available at the OTTO 598 web store.
