It is now Super Junior’s turn to hit the spotlight.
After a 10-month hiatus, SM Entertainment revealed that Super Junior will be having their comeback soon, allegedly after Girls’ Generation concludes their activities. The company also noted that that group will not be releasing an album “but a different type of record”.
A SM Entertainment representative released the statement to Korean media outlet TV Report on 24th June.
The statement is as follows:
Super Junior is currently preparing their new album. An exact release date has not been decided yet. This album will include Yesung.
Fans previously suspected that the boy group would be be having a comeback as the group members allegedly left a slew of “hints” on their social media accounts. When fans noticed that Kangin posted a new photo on his Instagram after months of inactivity, they suspected that Kangin was at a saloon getting a new hairstyle for Super Junior’s upcoming comeback. Heechul was also reported to have changed his hairstyle as his Instagram profile photo was switched to a photo of him sporting a platinum blonde look, which was different from his previous brown and long hairstyle.
Meanwhile, leader Leeteuk and member Siwon both uploaded photos from what looked like a photo shoot. Leeteuk was also shown to be posing suavely while sitting on a stool. The photo came with the caption, “..I will become even busier..Lets work hard!!!^^..#soon#comingsoon..” Siwon updated his Twitter with a photo of him and a photographer, along with the message that read, “We are preparing something special for you“, which was directed at ELFs (as Super Junior fans are lovingly known).

It has been 10 months since the release of “Mamacita”,their 7th full studio album that was unveiled on 1st September 2014. Members Shindong and Sungmin are then enlisted for their mandatory military services. Thus, the upcoming comeback will proceed without them. Shindong enlisted on 24th March 2015 while Sungmin enlisted the following week on 31st March. However, the album will see the participation of Yesung as he was discharged from army on 4th May 2015.
This year marks the 10th year anniversary for Super Junior, as they debuted on 6th November 2005 with the album “Super Junior ’05 (Twins)”. In 2009, the group exploded into mainstream fame with their hit song “Sorry, Sorry”, which remains one of the more well-known K-pop songs from this decade.
